About the Role
Under general supervision, this position plays a key role in driving the Department’s sponsorship strategy, marketing initiatives, and public outreach efforts. This dynamic, creative role develops business goals that support financial growth, builds strong corporate and community partnerships, and enhances the visibility and reputation of the Department. The individual in this position designs and produces digital marketing content, manages social media and website platforms, supports public awareness campaigns, and coordinates sponsorship and advertising opportunities to strengthen programs and events.
This role requires strong initiative, creativity, relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects with a high degree of independent judgment and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respectful, professional, positive service in all interactions with coworkers, internal and external customers, and the public.
- Maintain a positive, productive environment while ensuring compliance with City, Department, and Division policies and goals.
- Coordinate all Department marketing efforts, including advertising, public relations, marketing research, direct marketing, and social media.
- Implement digital marketing campaigns and analyze metrics to measure performance.
- Assist with developing an annual marketing plan, including research, goals, and strategy recommendations.
- Track and evaluate marketing campaigns for effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
- Assist in developing and implementing public awareness campaigns for residents, community groups, businesses, partner agencies, and legislators.
- Oversee sponsorship and advertising sales, working with Department staff to set goals and grow revenue opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships to generate alternative revenue, identify grants, secure in-kind donations, and sell advertising.
- Continue to enhance the Department Sponsorship Program to support special events and offset expenses.
- Monitor publicly posted content related to the Department; manage sensitive issues professionally to maintain the City’s positive reputation.
- Maintain and strengthen brand consistency for the City and Parks & Recreation Department.
- Identify unique opportunities to increase department visibility and community engagement.
- Assist in distributing print and digital marketing materials across multiple channels.
- Work to grow external guest involvement and participation in programs.
- Serve as a liaison to community groups, local government organizations, civic groups, neighborhoods, and businesses.
- Develop and maintain relationships with corporate, community, vendor, and partner organizations.
- Participate in teams, committees, public meetings, and advisory boards to share and gather information.
- Assist in developing new strategies to improve existing programs; provide input to the Marketing and Communications Manager.
- Help oversee communication efforts that promote the Department’s objectives and successes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform work safely and in compliance with all safety policies.
