JOB SUMMARY


The Recreation Coordinator plans, organizes, and coordinates a variety of recreation programs, services, events, and activities, with an emphasis on adult and youth sports. The position may work with contractors, part-time staff, and volunteers, and reports to the Recreation Supervisor. Specific duties may vary based upon assignments.

This is a 40-hour per week position, requiring flexibility with irregular hours, including evenings and frequent weekends. The Recreation Coordinator is a member of the Parks and Recreation team.

SALARY RANGE

Expected range of $45,000 to $49,500.

Consideration given for candidates with exceptional qualifications. 

JOB DUTIES

  • Deliver excellent customer service in a fun & fast-paced agency.
  • Manage the City's three youth sports leagues: soccer, basketball, and baseball
  • Supervise seasonal staff and volunteers.
  • Provide weekend coverage during sport seasons as required.
  • Manage sports equipment supplies and inventory.
  • Manage athletic field use and coordinate care with Parks Division personnel.
  • Responsible for assigned program publicity (print, social media & direct mail).
  • Lead and manage contracts for selected class instructors, programs, and specialty camps.
  • Assist with implementing City-wide special events.
  • Serve on the Manager-on-Duty rotation for Five Oaks on Warson (community center).


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a recreation/sports or closely related field OR a combination of some college and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in recreation programming.
  • Experience in recreation programing within a municipal or county government setting preferred.
  • The ability to plan, lead and coordinate community recreation programs, services, and special events.
  • Skilled in building rapport and strong working relationships with community partnerships with groups including school districts and non-profit agencies.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Skills in program and event marketing, writing reports, press releases, and league scheduling. Graphic design basics preferred.
  • Ability to help prepare, implement, and track a program budget and revenue goals
  • A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
