This full-time, senior leadership, position that directly reports to the Administrator of Parks and Recreation. The Superintendent of Parks Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating all aspects of park maintenance. This includes overseeing staff, ensuring high standards of care for parks and facilities, and supporting the department's long-term vision.

Compensation & Benefits:

The base salary range is between $ 71,592 and $89,490. Job Scope

Directly supervises the Assistant Superintendent of Parks Operations and the Park Operations Manager(s); indirectly supervises all Ops Staff. Responsible for the preparation, administration and monitoring of the division’s budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Recruits, supervises, appraises, selects, trains, counsels, and terminates, if necessary, volunteer, paid part-time, and full-time personnel.
  2. Oversees and administers outside contracts for services. Coordinates with purchasing to obtain contracts for services as needed per the City’s Purchasing Policy.
  3. Directs, develops, and implements park maintenance program and construction activities.
  4. Identify capital needs and make recommendations. Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of maintenance programs.
  5. Controls expenditures and purchases materials and supplies.
  6. Oversees activities necessary to ensure the safety of park patrons in their use of park areas.
  7. Ensures the enforcement of section and park rules and regulations.
  8. Consults and advises on the community park activities.
  9. Prepares written reports and presentations.
  10. Prepare and administer agreements with youth sports associations (YSAs), school districts, athletic groups, and other users.
  11. Participates in professional organizations.
  12. Approves expenditures and requisitions.
  13. Directs Cemetery operations.
