POSITION SUMMARY
Recreation/Arts Supervisor encompasses a wide range of roles – this dual position includes the support and coordination of Manchester Arts initiatives and the assistance in the Parks and Recreation Department, including but not limited to, programming, special events, promotion and advocacy of volunteer services. This position also oversees the newly established Lyceum Art Center.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Arts Administration, Education, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of progressively related management experience in Parks and Recreation, Arts Administration, Education, or equivalent.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY/STATISTICAL INFORMATION: Experience with overall business management, budgeting and financial reporting. Familiar with means for soliciting donations.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Current drivers license in good standing
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

- Strong planning skills and attention to detail with the ability to build and motivate a team. Possess a background in customer service.
- Familiarity and experience with hiring and contracting procedures.
- Possess strong planning and organizational skills. Ability to execute an effective course action for a long-range strategic plan.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and proficient in the use of office computers and office machines.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to disseminate information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to coordinate a variety of unrelated functions and handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Commitment to sustaining strong and productive working partnerships with all staff members, board members, volunteers, consultants, contractors, government officials and community.
- Work irregular hours, including nights and weekends and some holidays. Comfort in the outdoors for special events and programs. Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend stoop, stand, reach and lift.
- Develop and monitor various social media sites.
SUPERVISION
Under the direct supervision of the Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership and strategic direction for arts programming and community engagement initiatives.
- Oversee the planning and execution of all Manchester Arts programs, events, and facility operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
- Assist in organizational development, including the recruitment of volunteers, instructors, jurors, and participants.
- Foster relationships between civic and social service agencies, schools, universities, public groups, and corporate businesses. Increase awareness and partnerships between Manchester Arts and the local community.
- Collaborate with the Parks Department to develop marketing strategies; prepare, coordinate and disseminate advertising and promotions, using social media, brochures, calendars, letters, posters, banners and news releases for programs and events.
- Lead in the research and application process for grants and various funding sources.
- Plans, coordinates, schedules, promotes, implements, and evaluates a variety of programs which may include instructional classes, special events, facility rentals, and seasonal camps.
- Oversee the development and growth of the Lyceum Art Center. Develop and implement facility rental policies, usage guidelines, and long-term growth strategies for the Lyceum.
- Performs various personnel functions, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of part-time and seasonal program staff.
- Assist in the preparation and management of the Arts and Recreation budgets. Prepare financial reports for presentation to the Director of Parks, Recreation, & Arts.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and legal requirements. Assist in the negotiations of contracts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is typically performed in an office environment, with some exposure to weather and outdoor conditions from time to time.
