Are you passionate about sports and building strong community programs? The City of O'Fallon is hiring a Recreation Specialist - Athletics to lead youth and adult sports programming and provide meaningful recreational experiences for our residents.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in sports programming and a desire to serve the community through inclusive, well-organized, and engaging athletic activities.

General Duties:

- Plan, develop, and supervise a variety of recreation programs.

- Hire, train, and manage part-time staff.

- Communicate effectively with participants and the public.

- Maintain accurate program records and reports.

- Collaborate with other city departments and external partners.

- Act as Manager on Duty at the recreation complex as needed.

- Manage program budgets, purchases, and vendor relationships.

- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues.

- Assist in the development of promotional materials and bid documents.

Athletics-Specific Duties:

- Lead and manage youth and adult sports leagues, clinics, and events.

- Recruit and train volunteer coaches.

- Enforce policies related to safety, sportsmanship, and participation.

- Handle registrations, team assignments, game scheduling, and field reservations.

- Utilize Rec Trac software for registrations and reporting.

📌 Minimum Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required.

- One to three years of related experience in recreation, athletics, or a similar field-such as through a previous position, apprenticeship, or internship.

- Valid Missouri driver's license or the ability to obtain one.

- CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within a designated timeframe.

- Experience with youth and adult sports program development and implementation.

- Experience using Rec Trac or other recreation management software.

- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

- Budget management and scheduling experience.
